 Dear Parents/Guardians,

"On the other side of complexity lies simplicity”

I hope this message finds you well.  I am writing to let you know our thinking for the next three weeks and the first week back.  These are the issues on our mind at the moment:

Health & Safety

  •  OPH has issued new signs to help us reinforce and fortify hand washing routines already in place
  •  we are abundantly stocked with soap and paper towels
  • hand sanitizer is being distributed to schools at a higher level and there’s more to disperse to schools that run short
  • Custodians continue disinfecting all desk surfaces and touch points daily
  •  the Board is working closely with OPH and pass on the most current direction as warranted
  •  the Board has 3 electrostatic disinfection machines (a disinfectant fogger) for use in a confirmed outbreak

  • - news of the two week shut down came  without warning and senior staff were in contact with the Ministry this morning to clarify a number of the broader issues and will then focus on more local concerns - we await further direction
  • - our website has a great deal of content under ‘Learning Resources K to 6’ on the ‘Parent Resources’ drop down
  •  please check our Twitter Feed for additional resources
  •  Many of our fine teachers have prepared resources to go home or posted to Google Classroom – check it out!

  •  We will all do well to embrace Einstein’s wise words and embrace the chaos of the moment and so…

We are in uncertain times and it is difficult to make plans.  We are all used to planning our lives days, weeks or even months ahead.  This is simply less possible, at the moment.  Our messaging to your children when they worry about what is going to happen will be: “The best possible outcome!”  We will adopt, adapt and improve.  After all, we cannot run ahead and smooth the bumps in the road.  We can and must sit beside your children and help them manage uncertainty and doubt.  We can help them grow to be strong, capable and independent problems solvers.  We can help them take the necessary precautions and be hopeful, at the same time.  We will take an optimistic stance and handle the bumpy road ahead with ‘style and grace.’  Please help us support a calm and positive stance.  By the way, in the presence of many destabilizing variables, your children, our Bulldogs, have shown tremendous resilience.  It’s quite inspiring and a strong testament to the fine families in our community.  Thank you for your kind support.

See you in three weeks-ish!
