Principal's Message

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians,

Bells Corners PS is truly a special place in the OCDSB. Every staff member is dedicated to ensuring everyone feels connected and we focus on building community. We teach and learn through relationships.

At Bells Corners, we thank the Algonquin People, and acknowledge that our learning, playing, and growing takes place on their unceded, and unsurrendered territory, and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.

It is a pleasure and honour to be returning to Bells Corners Public School for the 2022-2023 school year as your Principal.  At Bells Corners we value student voice, connections and well being. My professional background in education spans over 20 years with a curriculum focus on Kindergarten to grade 8, including ESL, Special Education and Adult instruction. As a parent of two children attending OCDSB schools, I understand the importance of relationships that foster growth and belonging.  As a result, my passion is deeply rooted in student, parent and educator connections. I value the opportunity to connect  with students on a daily basis and I truly enjoy the opportunity to observe how our students engage, inquire and succeed in achieving their individual goals while embracing their identity. These connections are embedded in equity and reflect my commitment to fostering a learning environment that is inclusive where the curriculum is culturally relevant and responsive to our diverse student population. Students who attend BCPS will acquire the knowledge and skills to be independent and life-long learners.

Elysa Esposito is our Vice-Principal and she has been a passionate educator with the OCDSB since 2011. Her background is in French Second Language (FSL) education with experience teaching kindergarten to grade 10 in both French Immersion and Core French. She was an FSL Instructional Coach with the District. Elysa truly enjoys her role as a Vice-Principal as it allows her to build a variety of positive relationships with students, staff, families, and our communities. Together Mrs. Esposito and I are your Administrative team.

Bells Corners offers a  Kindergarten to Grade 6 program. Our English Program provides a  Core French  component and our Middle French Immersion program is offered in grades 4 to 6. In addition we offer three Specialized Classes that include Primary and Junior Language Learning Disability class and Behaviour Intervention Programme. Our Special Education team at BCPS fosters a commitment to working with parents, students and educators to champion high learning expectations for all students.

You will find that BCPS educators who lead many of their classes and programs are leaders and are continuously focused on ongoing professional development to meet the diverse strengths and needs of our students.  Our educators  offer a variety of extracurriculars for students from sports activities, environmental club, makerspace, and coding club, however, there are many additional activities that are offered throughout the year. Our staff  work as a collaborative team to ensure student well being is cultivated. Educators create an environment to nurture and inspire students to achieve their personal goals. Our curriculum encompasses our commitment to equity, inclusion and Indigenous education.  More importantly every student at Bells Corners  will be a part of an inclusive and caring classroom where they are safe and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Parents are key to our success here at Bells Corners and parent voice is welcome!  Our BCPS school council meets monthly and organizes and supports our school from lunch days to events that brings our community together such as fundraisers, and curriculum focused events, which are only a few of the many events that our School Council provides to our school community.  We value the diversity of our community voices and perspectives and our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month. We look forward to welcoming a diversity of parent voices on our 2022-2023 School Council.

Parent partnerships are valuable to knowing how to support your child and how as a school team, we can work together. If you would like to share ideas or have any questions, please contact the office and set up an appointment, so that we can get to know you better. I look forward to welcoming you and your child to Bells Corners!

Sincerely, your partner in your child’s education,
